Order doesn't matter — Aries and Leo scores the same as Leo and Aries.
Every pairing, scored the same way
There are 78 possible pairings across the twelve zodiac signs, and every one of them is on this page — from the effortless earth-sign matches to the stormy odd-angle pairs that only work with real effort. Choose your sign and your partner's (or a friend's, or a colleague's) and you will land on a full breakdown of how the two of you fit: the overall chemistry, plus what changes when the relationship is romantic, platonic, or professional.
Each pairing carries four numbers. The overall score answers the simple question of how naturally the two signs fit, on a scale from 40 to 98. Beneath it sit three sub-scores — love, friendship, and work — because two people can spark as partners and clash as colleagues, or make brilliant friends without the romance ever catching. Every score maps to a plain-language tier, from *Exceptional* down to *Stormy*, so you always know what a number actually means.
The point is not to tell you who you are allowed to love. It is to give you a fun, informed starting point — a way to understand where two people flow together, where the friction lives, and how to work with both.
- Exceptional (90-98)
- Strong (80-89)
- Workable (65-79)
- Challenging (50-64)
- Stormy (40-49)

How we score
Every pairing is scored by the same method, so Aries and Leo is judged by the exact rules as Virgo and Aquarius. It rests on four ideas.
First, the angle between the two signs. The zodiac is a circle of twelve signs, each 30 degrees apart, and classical astrology gives every angle a character: trines (four signs apart, same element) flow the most easily; sextiles (two apart) support each other; oppositions (directly across) create that magnetic opposites-attract pull; squares and quincunxes are the growth angles that ask for real work; and conjunctions (the same sign) share one wavelength for better and worse.
Second, element chemistry. Fire and air feed each other, earth and water nourish each other, while the harder mixes — fire with water, fire with earth, air with water — score lower when the angle already puts them at odds.
Third, modality — whether a sign starts things (cardinal), holds them (fixed), or adapts (mutable) — which shapes how any friction actually feels. Two fixed signs lock horns hardest; mutable signs bend more gracefully.
Fourth, tradition: each sign's classic celebrated matches get a small, transparent lift, so the numbers agree with what astrology has honored for generations without ever overriding the geometry.
Those four factors set the overall score; the love, friendship, and work sub-scores then adjust it for what each domain rewards — passion and magnetism for love, ease and shared elements for friendship, discipline and drive for work. One honest caveat: compatibility scores describe tendencies, not destiny. Plenty of lasting relationships are built on "challenging" aspects, precisely because the friction keeps things interesting. Treat all of this as entertainment and a starting point for understanding — not a rule about who you are meant to be with.
Compatibility FAQ
Which zodiac signs are most compatible?
The highest-scoring pairs on our chart are the earth-sign trines — Taurus and Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn, and Virgo and Capricorn all land at 96, our top overall score. Same-element pairs (two fire, earth, air, or water signs four apart) tend to rank highest across the board, because they share a natural wavelength. That said, the best match is the one you actually put the work into — a high score is an easy start, not a finish line.
Do opposite signs attract?
Often, yes. Opposite signs sit directly across the zodiac wheel — Aries and Libra, Taurus and Scorpio, Cancer and Capricorn, and so on — and the pull between them is famously magnetic. On our chart these oppositions score especially well for love, because each sign holds exactly what the other lacks. The same difference that creates the spark is what the pair has to keep translating over time.
How is zodiac compatibility calculated?
Our scores start from the angle between two signs on the zodiac wheel — the classical aspect, like trine or square — then adjust for how the two elements mix, whether they share a modality, and each sign's traditionally celebrated matches. Every pair gets an overall score plus separate love, friendship, and work ratings. It's the same geometry astrologers have used for centuries, applied to all 78 pairs by the same rules.
