A Flock That Only Knows One Direction
Space Sheep Escape is a 3D grid puzzle built on a single rule: every sheep runs straight the way its head is pointing. Tap one and it takes off. If another sheep is standing in its path, it bumps into it and stops right there. Your job is to send every sheep off the board, and the stage is cleared the moment the last one is gone.
On an early stage with a handful of sheep, that sounds almost too easy. Then the board fills up. Sheep face every direction, they block each other in rows and knots, and one sheep sent at the wrong moment can leave the rest of the flock with nowhere to go. You can tap several sheep one after another and they all run at the same time, so the order you choose is the whole puzzle. Zoom in and drag the board to check which way each sheep is facing before you commit.
How to Play
- Tap a sheep. It runs straight ahead, the way its head points, until it leaves the board or bumps into something.
- Clear the grid. Send every sheep off the board to finish the stage and move on to the next one.
- Look before you tap. Pinch to zoom (or use the mouse wheel on a computer) and drag the board to read each sheep's direction.
- Mind the bomb sheep. A bomb sheep survives two bumps, whether it runs into something or something runs into it. The third bump sets it off and fails the stage.
- Don't jam the flock. A stage also fails when nothing is moving and every sheep left is blocked.
Hints and the One Continue
When a board has you stuck, two hints can help, and each can be used once per stage. The first removes one sheep of your choice from the board, which is often all it takes to free a locked row. The second turns two sheep around so they face the opposite way, which can open a path that didn't exist a moment ago. Choosing which sheep to spend a hint on is a puzzle of its own.
Once per run you can also continue after a failed stage. If a bomb went off, only that bomb sheep is cleared away and you keep playing from there. If the board jammed, the stage goes back to its starting layout so you can try a different order. After that, the next failure ends the run.
Tips for Untangling the Flock
- Start from the edges. Sheep on the outside facing outward have a clear run. Sending them first opens space for the ones behind.
- Trace each path. Before tapping, follow the line a sheep will run. If another sheep sits on that line, deal with that one first.
- Keep bombs out of traffic. Every bump counts toward a bomb sheep's limit, including sheep that run into it. Clear its path early.
- Save hints for real knots. A hint is worth the most when two sheep face each other and neither can ever move.
- Change the view. On a crowded board, a quick zoom and drag often shows a direction you misread at first glance.
A Run With No Last Stage
There is no final stage to reach. Stages keep coming and get harder as you go, so every run is a test of how far your planning holds up. Your best run is saved on this device, and as your best record grows, new looks unlock for your sheep, which you can pick from the home screen before your next run.
The game itself is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases inside it. There is no account and no sign-in, and once it has loaded it keeps working offline. Open it, tap a sheep, and see how far the flock gets.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I clear a stage?
Tap a sheep and it runs straight ahead in the direction its head points. If another sheep is in the way, it stops. Send every sheep off the grid to clear the stage and move on to the next one.
What are bomb sheep?
A bomb sheep can take two bumps, whether it runs into something or something runs into it. On the third bump it explodes and the stage fails, so clear its path before it gets crowded.
What hints can I use?
There are two hints, and each can be used once per stage: remove one sheep from the board, or turn two sheep around to face the opposite way.
What happens when a stage fails?
Once per run you can continue. If a bomb exploded, only that bomb sheep is cleared away and you keep going. If the board jammed, the stage resets to its starting layout. The next failure after that ends the run.
Is there a last stage? Is my progress saved?
There is no last stage. Stages keep coming and get harder as you go. Your best run is saved in your browser on this device, and new looks for your sheep unlock as your best record grows. No account or sign-up is needed.
